It can not be understated how important led lighting is to us it is a huge leap from the light bulb first lit two centuries ago

Humphrey Davy, in eighteen hundred and six which is a few years before Thomas Edison in eighteen hundred and seventy nine who first invented the light bulb but this light wasn’t like the modern leds we have today it was unreliable needed a tremendous source of power and worked by creating an arc between to rods a bit like a welding torch and was far too bright and unstable to be used at that time as it was too impracticable for common use.

What a long way we have come and how far can the led light go?

Whilst expensive a decade ago more and more people using it means we are able to bring the price down by at least ten percent a year, making them far more affordable to use in large and small projects. Not to mention the cheaper consumer costs of using them which makes them a much sought after greener commodity.

The way they give off less light pollution means they have been used for lighting up public places spot lighting monuments and other points of interest like cathedrals which lit up at night with led’s shows off the fantastic stonework, this can be done in whatever colour hue suits the item itself. Making areas of darkness’ a wash with colour at night changing the night space with safer lit areas..

Because of the low wattage a 3watt led down lighter can replace a 20 watt halogen bulb and hotels restaurants public buildings are taking advantage of this. It is thought in a year or so all lighting with halogen bulbs will be replaced with led lighting.

This will make leds the lighting of the future

They have been replacing signage in hotels and restaurants as the low energy choice make a far cheaper sign for the consumer with far more colour options all for less money. This will of course last longer.

In fact led’s have the flexibility to offer solutions never on offer before.

It is thought they will continue to be used in more and more ways in the future making the led light an advance to go down in history like the original light bulb whether you believe it was invented by Mr. Thomas Edison or Mr. Humphrey Davey.
